Rado
( Rado 1960s,Water Sealed)

Rado DiaStar Automatic Original ( 2005 model)


Company was formed in 1917 as Schlup and Co but only in 1957, the company launched its first collection of watches under Rado brand. First model of scratch-proof watch namely Rado Diastar ( see below) was launched in 1962. In 1983 Rado became part of the SMH group which was renamed in 1998 as the Swatch Group. As compared to other traditional Swiss watch, Rado has focussed on pioneering the use of number of materials that are unique within the watch making industry such as hardmetal ( tungsten, titanium), ceramics, lanthanum, sapphire crystal and diamond. Rado model V10K was the hardest watch on earth ( Guiness book of World records) coated with high tech diamonds. Rado has received many internationan awards ( source : Wikepedia).

Omega

Omega company was founded by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1848. The brand's reputation for innovation and quality has led to numerous awards over the company's 150 years history, starting as early as 1900 with the Grand Prix at the Paris World Fair and continuing with the world precision record of 97.8 points at the Kew-Teddington observatory in England in 1936. Omega went on to be official timekeeper at no less than 21 Olympic games. This company was awarded the Olympic Cross of Merit for its outstanding contribution to sport. Omega's speedmaster watch was choosen by NASA as its official chronometer in 1965 and it was the first watch to be worn on the moon by astronaut Neil Amstrong in July 1969 who made his giant leap for mankind.








Oris
Oris was founded by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian in 1904 at Holstein, Switzerland. Oris continued to focus on the manufacturing mechanical watches when many other companies were shifting to digital technology. Oris has been able to hold its own creating watches with unique mechanical features that distinguish from those with electronics and quartz. In 2004, Oris celebrated 100 years of existence and is going stronger than ever. Oris boasts many names wearing an Oris such as Sean Penn, Harrison Ford, Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicolas Cage etc. It also a key sponsor of the BMW Williams Formula 1 team. An Oris watch is a statement of quality, craftsmanship, and value in mechanical watch making. Oris is a watch brand dedicated solely to manufacturing mechanical timepieces with self-winding automatic movements. Seiko


First wrist watch of Seiko was introduced in 1924 but the company involved in this product was actually founded by clockmaker in Tokyo Ginza District in 1881.Dedicated to technology advancement and precise manufacture, the Seiko company has repeatedly staked its reputation on performance, acting as the official timer of the olympic games in Tokyo, Sapporo, Barcelona, Lillihammer and Nagano. Seiko was the first quartz watch, the world's first LCD quartz watch with six digit display and the world's first intelligent analog quartz watch with alarm and timer function.




Rolex

Rolex company was founded by Hans Wilsdorf in 1905. Born in Kulmbach, Germany in 1881, this company, Wilsdorf & Davies, was based in London. By 1908 it had become one of the leading watch companies in the UK. The name Rolex was first introduced in 1908. In 1926 , Rolex Oyster ( somethng similar with above) was released. It was the first wristwatch to be considered waterproof, proven a year later when the watch was worn by the swimmer Mercedes Gleitze in his successful bid to cross the English channel. This was beneficial to Wilsdorf whom had sponsored the event and gained considerable exposure for his new Oyster Watch.
